Tokonatsu announce a spin-off event for gamers

Tokonatsu-Gaming is a non-profit gaming event run for PC owners and console users. It is run in association with the UK Anime Festival Tokonatsu.
Attendees will be given the opportunity to see and play a wide range of games from the 'classic' right through to the 'state of the art'.
The event will be held in Woburn, England, between the 13th and 15th of April 2007.

DDR:UK Robbery

DDR:UK have been providing games services to most large UK anime and manga events for years (including London MCM Expo, AmeCon and Ayacon). But now we unfortunately have to report that on Friday 18th August £25,000 of gear was stolen from the DDR:UK equipment store - effectively wiping them out. We have also been informed that the AmeCon manga library was also vandalised, book by book.
If anyone has any information concerning this theft, please get in touch with either ddruk.com or Kingston upon Thames Police Station.

Fan guide and RPG publisher goes out of business

Guardians of Order, the Canadian publisher of both the "BESM" anime/manga role play game and the ultimate fan guide series have ceased trading operations. Guardians of Order published "The Sailor Moon RPG" in 1998 and since then have been at the forefront of licensed anime RPGs, from standalone books like "El-Hazard RPG and Resource Book" to "Ultimate Fan Guides". The announcement does mention that the next release of "BESM" will still appear from another publisher.

The Magic Box have the latest figures for console sales in Japan. As usual, the top seller was still the Nintendo DS Lite. In related news, they also reported that 136,500 units of the Nintendo DS Lite were sold in North America during the first two days of its launch.
The top selling software title was "New Super Mario Bros.", but in second place was "Hisshou Pachislot Kouryoku Series Vol.5: CR Shinseiki Evangelion".

Its probably not surprising (given its fantastic console sales), but six of the top ten selling titles were for the Nintendo DS. After selling over two million units in Japan already, Final Fantasy XII has now dropped to 8th position in the charts.

The Magic Box have the latest figures for console sales in Japan. As usual, the top seller was still the DS Lite. Its interesting to note that sale of PlayStation 2 still sells well and outstrips those of the Xbox 360. During the week PlayStation 2 sold 28,896 units compared to only 1,940 for the Xbox 360.

The Magic Box have a report from Weekly Famitsu which reveals the number of console systems (from those systems that are currently still in production) in Japan as at 26th March 2006.
There should be no surprise that Sony PlayStation 2 is top of the list with 19,197,777 units, but the Nintendo DS has now overtaken the Nintendo GBA SP to take second place.

This was probably due to the release of Final Fantasy XII. In related news, Sony announced this week that they will cease production of the PSOne console.

Autographed chase cards coming to the next FMA trading card game expansion

The "Full Metal Alchemist" trading card expansion "A Hero's Passing is due to be released in the US on 10th May 2006. According to a report on ICv2, the set will include special foil chase cards, where the US dub actors have signed cards from previous sets of the characters they dub. The characters and actors involved are Edward Elric, Researcher (signed by Vic Mignogna); Lust, Cloaked Stranger (signed by Laura Bailey); Scar, Cold Hearted (signed by Dameon Clarke); and Maes Hughes, Dedicated Soldier (signed by Sonny Strait).
